International Carnival Queen: Show Related Information

Enclosed is a draft program giving the order of appearances for International Carnival Queen 2012; please refer to it in relation to the comments below. Also enclosed for your information is breakdown of the points awarded in each category. Please be guided by it.

Each section will be timed and the stipulated time will adhered to.

1. Introductory Appearance - JUDGED CATEGORY (maximum of 20 points)
Delegates must wear the colors of their National Flag in a short pant set for the opening of the Show. An opening dance sequence with all Delegates will take place and Delegates will state their name and the Country that they represent at the end of the Dance. The Introductory Comments from the Delegate can be no more that 30 seconds.

This category will be awarded a maximum of 20 points. Elegance, First Impression and Style / Creation will be taken into account in arriving at the score for each Delegate for this Category.

2. Carnival Costume - JUDGED CATEGORY maximum of 40 points)
Delegates are expected to provide their Carnival Costume show, which must not be less that 2 minutes and must not exceed 5 minutes. During this show they can be accompanied by a Dance group of maximum 6 dancers. (Fu.De.Ka. can provide a dance group, but must be notified by January 2nd, 2012) Judging ceases after the allotted time.

Delegates are expected to adhere strictly to this rule: maximum width 10 ft and maximum height of 20 ft.

This category will be awarded a maximum of 40 points. Visual Impact, Creativity and Presentation will be taken into account in arriving at the score for each Delegate for this category.

3. Evening Gown - JUDGED CATEGORY (maximum of 20 points)
The Gown will be judged on its creativity, design, fit, elegance, style and suitability of accessories.

This category will be awarded a maximum of 20 points. Overall Impression and Expression will also be taken into account when judging this section.

4. Interview - JUDGED CATEGORY (maximum of 20 points)
Each Delegate will be required to answer one general question. Questions will be set by the island celebrities. This category will be awarded a maximum of 20 points. Questions will require an opinion answer, and points will be awarded for fluency, diction, content and confidence.

Hair and Make-Up
The CURACAO CARNIVAL DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION provides hair stylists and make-up artist back-stage on the night of the competition. If a Delegate or her chaperone is capable and more comfortable doing her hair and make-up she may of course do so.

For all other appearances and events the Delegates will be responsible for their own hair and make-up.

Backstage
Each Delegate will be allowed one person backstage with her on the night of the competition. This person should be able to assist the Delegate get ready for each appearance. It is important to choose a qualified, mature, well-rounded and responsible Chaperone who can and will be responsible at all times.

If a Delegate does not have a Chaperone or for whatever reason a Delegate's Chaperone is unable to perform on the night of the competition the CURACAO CARNIVAL DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION will assign a qualified Chaperone to that Delegate.

Prizes
The prize monies, which will be given together with other "in kind" prizes and gifts, are as follows:
1st place- US$.5.000.00
2nd place- US$.1.000.00
3rd place- US$. 500.00

Gift Exchange
The Delegates should bring 3 (three) gifts; one for our Prime Minister, one for the Commissioner of Tourism and one for the Commisioner of Culture and if they choose so gifts to exchange with the other Delegates. The delegates will be provided with a gift bag from CURACAO CARNIVAL DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION.

Please see enclosed itinerary. Please pay special attention to the dress requirements for each event.

Translators
Translators will be provided for the added convenience of Delegates whose first language is not English.
